This paper introduces a new scheme for the automatic optimization of tailor rolled blanks, which is important for lightweighting vehicle bodies designed for mass production under cost restrictions. The optimization scheme includes CAE processes such as manufacturing simulation, structural behavior simulation, and production cost estimation. The optimization is based on high-quality metamodels to evaluate different optima.
In this paper we present a new scheme for the automatic optimization of tailor rolled blanks. This is important because this production technique is utilized for light weighting of vehicle bodies that are designed for mass production with respect to cost restrictions. The optimization scheme includes the necessary CAE process, which consists of the manufacturing simulation (e.g. for the stamping process), the simulation of the structural behavior (e.g. for a crash event) and the estimation of the production costs. The defined design variables describe the shape and dimensions in the multiobjective optimization scheme. The optimization is based on high-quality metamodels with which different optima can be evaluate.
