Glyoxylic acid and its acetal derivatives are low toxicity, easy to handle and store, highly stable, and readily available as formylation agents in decarboxylative cross-coupling reactions, showing great potential in various applications.
Glyoxylic acid and its acetal derivatives are low toxicity, easy handling and storage, high stability and easy availability. In addition, they are easy to perform decarboxylative cross-coupling reactions. Therefore, the decarboxylative cross-coupling of glyoxylic acid and its acetal derivatives are beginning to emerge. This review mainly focuses on the decarboxylative cross-coupling reactions using glyoxylic acid and its acetal derivatives as formylation agents. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
