A new series of benzo[h]quinoline-based alpha-arylidene cycloketone derivatives, 9-arylidene-9,11-dihydro-8H-benzo[h]pyrano[3,4-b]quinolin-8-ones, were successfully synthesized in good yields through a Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction of readily synthesized benzo[h]pyrano[3,4-b]quinolin-8-one with aromatic aldehydes under eco-friendly solvent-free conditions. The synthetic strategy is characterized by its experimental simplicity, affordable reagents, and satisfactory yields, making it a useful method.
In this work, a simple and convenient synthesis of a new series of benzo[h]quinoline-based alpha-arylidene cycloketone derivatives, namely 9-arylidene-9,11-dihydro-8H-benzo[h]pyrano[3,4-b]quinolin-8-ones, has been achieved for the first time in good yields through Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction of readily synthesized benzo[h]pyrano[3,4-b]quinolin-8-one with aromatic aldehydes under eco-friendly solvent-free condition. Our synthetic strategy features experimental simplicity, inexpensive reagents and satisfactory yields, which would contribute to the usefulness of this method.
