Moving while you're stuck: a macroscopic demonstration of an active system inspired by binding-mediated transport in biology

Kanghyeon Koo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the feasibility of actively driving key biological functions by balancing binding and displacement, such as bacterial movement or selective active filtering in cells. Binding transiently to a flexible medium can overcome stickiness and enable motion. Additionally, in a dynamic system, analogous binding-mediated motion can be actively driven.
