Wall temperature effects on shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction via direct numerical simulation

Ke Zhu et al.

Summary: The interaction between shockwave and turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate was investigated through direct numerical simulation at different wall temperatures. It was found that as the wall temperature increases, the skin friction decreases, resulting in stronger separation and increased turbulent kinetic energy on the heating wall. The study also observed an acceleration and amplification of the process of near-wall strip vortices evolving into complicated 3-dimensional structures at high wall temperatures.

Investigation of shock wave control by suction in a supersonic cascade

Ziao Wang et al.

Summary: The study presents a numerical simulation of suction control on a supersonic cascade to enhance resistance backpressure characteristics. The results show that implementing suction control at specific locations can stabilize shock waves and improve backpressure. Increasing pressure gradient downstream of the barrier wave can enhance maximum backpressure through suction control.

Instability of shock train behaviour with incident shocks

Nan Li et al.

Summary: The study investigated the unstable behavior of a shock train system in a back pressured duct with incident shocks. It found that as the shock train enters the SWBLI region, divergent vibration emerges, leading to instability. An analysis based on the feedback mechanism identified a criterion for this instability.

Unsteadiness characterization of shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction controlled by high-frequency arc plasma energy deposition

Liming Feng et al.

Summary: The experimental study demonstrated the effectiveness of 15 kHz pulsed APED in weakening both the separation shock and the attached shock, narrowing the low frequency component of the oscillatory separation shock. Additionally, a stronger oscillation of the attached shock under APED was observed, and the thermal bubbles increased the characteristic scales of vortex in the incoming turbulent boundary layer and shear layer, enhancing the fluctuation of the shear layer.

Effects of back pressure perturbation on shock train oscillations in a rectangular duct

Vignesh Ram Petha Sethuraman et al.

Summary: The study indicates that the oscillation of shock train in a scramjet engine is affected by downstream pressure perturbations. The downstream pressure perturbation has a noticeable effect on the maximum axial movement of the shock train, and as the frequency increases, the propagation speed decreases.
