This study focused on converting carbohydrates into platform compounds using a deep eutectic solvent as a green solvent. The physical properties of the solvent mixture were determined experimentally and correlated, while some physical parameters were calculated. The experimental results showed a change in hydrogen bonds in the mixture with increasing D-glucose content.
To convert carbohydrates into platform compounds, the deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride and urea (molar ratio 1:2) was adopted as a green solvent. The physical properties of density, dynamic viscosity, conductivity and refractive index were determined for the mixture of D-glucose and DES including neat reline at a temperature from 293.15 K to 363.15 K at 101.3 kPa. The measured data of density, dynamic viscosity, conductivity and refractive index were correlated, respectively. Meanwhile, the molecular volume, standard molar entropy, lattice energy and free volume were calculated. The spectra of FTIR indicates that the hydrogen bond was changed in the mixture with increasing the content of D-glucose.
