Photoelectrochemical performance of TiO2 photoanodes: Nanotube versus nanoflake electrodes

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: This study compares the photoresponse of vertically erected single crystal anatase layers with that of TiO2 nanotube layers, showing that the de-fluorinated VE-anatase layers exhibit significantly higher photocurrents due to faster electron transport in these single crystal electrodes.

Photoelectrochemical performance of facet-controlled TiO2 nanosheets grown hydrothermally on FTO

Fahimeh Shahvardanfard et al.

Summary: Single crystal anatase TiO2 nanosheets were successfully grown hydrothermally on FTO, with different TiO2-NSs morphologies and facet ratios characterized for their photoelectrochemical response. The photocurrent magnitude strongly depends on growth parameters, primarily the effective electrochemically active area of the electrode, while high facet ratios (>91%) can significantly influence the photoresponse. This study provides crucial fundamental data for optimizing the growth of single crystalline electrodes.
