Magnetic and Thermodynamic Properties of a Nanowire with Rashba Spin-Orbit Interaction

Y. Khoshbakht et al.

Summary: In this work, the energy expression of ballistic nanowires in the presence of gate-controlled Rashba spin-orbit interaction and an in-plane magnetic field was obtained. Analytical relations for the mean energy, free energy, specific heat, entropy, and magnetic susceptibility were derived. It was found that specific heat and magnetic susceptibility exhibit peak structure in the presence of spin-orbit interaction and magnetic field, where the peak positions depend on various parameters such as the Rashba constant, Zeeman splitting parameter, and the angle between the magnetic field and wire axis.
