A new species of dermestid, Trogoderma ainu sp. nov., is described from middle Eocene Sakhalinian amber. This is the first dermestid known from the Eocene of Asia and the second Trogoderma species found in amber. The genus Trogoderma has only been found in fossil resins in the preimaginal state. The fossil records of dermestids are also listed in the article.
