Constraining the Nature of the PDS 70 Protoplanets with VLTI/GRAVITY*

J. J. Wang et al.

Summary: Using VLTI/GRAVITY, we observed the PDS 70 protoplanetary system and found the eccentricity and orbital configuration of the planets, as well as the hot inner disk around the host star. Our study suggests a mass upper limit of 10 Jupiter masses for PDS 70 b, while the mass of PDS 70 c remains unconstrained. Additionally, we discovered that the atmospheres of both planets may contain dust, but the nature of the dust is unclear.

The TW Hya Rosetta Stone Project. III. Resolving the Gaseous Thermal Profile of the Disk

Jenny K. Calahan et al.

Summary: The study focuses on constraining the thermal structure of the protoplanetary disk TW Hya using CO line images, finding that CO alone is not a viable mass tracer due to degeneracy with total H-2 surface density. Different mass models can readily match spatially resolved CO line profiles.

Revisiting migration in a disc cavity to explain the high eccentricities of warm Jupiters

Florian Debras et al.

Summary: This paper revisits a simple explanation for the high eccentricities of warm Jupiters by proposing migration inside a cavity in the protoplanetary disc. Numerical simulations show that this scenario can lead to an increase in eccentricity up to around 0.4, comparable to the median eccentricity of warm Saturn- to Jupiter-mass exoplanets. This mechanism could have significant implications on disc lifetime and inner disc dispersal, which may be constrained by the eccentricity distribution of gas giants.
