Parameterization of a linear vibronic coupling model with multiconfigurational electronic structure methods to study the quantum dynamics of photoexcited pyrene

Flavia Aleotti et al.

Summary: This study presents a protocol for parameterizing a Linear Vibronic Coupling (LVC) Hamiltonian for quantum dynamics using highly accurate multiconfigurational electronic structure methods and a maximum-overlap diabatization technique. The approach is applicable to medium-size rigid molecules requiring a quantum description of excited state dynamics. The model is shown to be very accurate and in good agreement with experimental data.

Vibronic Spectra of π-Conjugated Systems with a Multitude of Coupled States: A Protocol Based on Linear Vibronic Coupling Models and Quantum Dynamics Tested on Hexahelicene

Daniel Aranda et al.

Summary: Hexahelicene, as a prototype of an extended pi-conjugated system with axial chirality, challenges computational methods due to its complex spectra. By utilizing time-dependent density functional theory and multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree methods, the nonadiabatic ABS and ECD vibronic spectra of hexahelicene have been successfully computed. The proposed approach is a general tool for studying the photophysical properties of pi-conjugated systems with a dense manifold of interacting electronic states.

Excited-State Absorption of Uracil in the Gas Phase: Mapping the Main Decay Paths by Different Electronic Structure Methods

Daniil A. Fedotov et al.

Summary: This study examines the computational predictions of one-photon and excited-state absorption spectra of uracil, comparing six different linear response electronic structure methods. The spectral shapes predicted by some methods are fairly similar, although there may be slight deterioration in quality in the high-energy region. Insight into the shift of ESA spectra on different potential energy surfaces is obtained, revealing that despite 1 pi having larger ESA, some regions are dominated by signals from the 1n state.

Simulation of UV absorption spectra and relaxation dynamics of uracil and uracil-water clusters

Branislav Milovanovic et al.

Summary: This study combines theoretical UV absorption spectroscopy with nonadiabatic dynamics simulations to investigate the photophysical mechanisms of uracil in the gas phase and in aqueous solution. It is found that the ultrafast component of the nonradiative decay in uracil is mainly attributed to the ethylenic twist around the C = C bond, providing very good agreement with experimentally determined decay time constants.
