Over 40-W Electric Power and Optical Data Transmission Using an Optical Fiber

Summary: The article demonstrates simultaneous 40-W electric power and optical data transmission through an optical fiber for optically powered remote antenna units in future mobile communication networks. By improving the link design and using a photovoltaic power converter, the electric power delivery is successfully increased to 43.7W with high optical-to-electrical conversion efficiency.
