Fabrication of superhydrophobic and self cleaning PVA-silica fiber coating on 304L SS surfaces by electrospinning

Sampathkumar Chrisolite Vanithakumari et al.

Summary: A superhydrophobic coating with self-cleaning property was fabricated on 304L SS samples using a simple one-step electrospinning process, followed by silane treatment. The coating exhibited dynamic bouncing of water droplets and excellent self-cleaning performance, while maintaining its surface properties in chloride solutions with different ionic strengths and pH levels.

Liquid-repellent and self-repairing lubricant-grafted surfaces constructed by thiol-ene click chemistry using activated hollow silica as the lubricant reservoir

Mengnan Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, a lubricant-grafted slippery surface (LGSS) was prepared by grafting vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (Vi-PDMS) onto sulfhydryl-modified hollow mesoporous silica (SH-HMS) through a thiol-ene click reaction, exhibiting excellent antifouling and self-repairing properties. This newly developed strategy for constructing liquid-repellent coatings has the potential to advance interfacial antifouling materials.
