A Reliable Method for Determining the Oxidation State of Manganese at the Microscale in Mn Oxides via Raman Spectroscopy

Simone Bernardini et al.

Summary: The study characterizes the oxidation state of manganese using Raman spectroscopy data and establishes a clear correlation between the oxidation state of manganese ions and specific band wave numbers, providing a reliable analytical basis for using minerals as redox indicators and monitoring technological processes.

Unexpected role of NOx during catalytic ozone abatement at low temperature

Houcine Touati et al.

Summary: The catalytic decomposition of ozone using Pd/Al2O3 catalysts at 40 degrees C showed that the presence of NOx can significantly poison the catalyst, leading to a decrease in ozone conversion rate over time. However, it was found that the poisoning effect is reversible when using NOx-free ozone feed, allowing for total recovery of the initial catalyst properties.

Molecular motion in the nanospace of MOFs upon gas adsorption investigated by in situ Raman spectroscopy

Shinpei Kusaka et al.

Summary: In this study, molecular motions in the nanospace of MOFs were investigated using in situ Raman spectroscopy, particularly focusing on the libration motion of Cu-JAST-1. The results showed that the libration mode of Cu-JAST-1 was suppressed by the adsorption of guest molecules, and a correlation between the libration mode and adsorption equilibrium time was identified. This provides useful insights for designing MOFs as molecular adsorption and separation materials.
