Dinitrogen complexes of the first row transition metals Cr-Co supported by 2(nd) generation hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate (Tp(R,R)) ligands were characterized by structure and reactivity. Compounds of the type (Tp(R,R)M)(n)(N-2) (n = 1,2) were prepared and evaluated as precursors for small molecule activation, with specific application to reactions of O-2.
