The Association Between Training Load Indices and Injuries in Elite Soccer Players

Summary: This study investigated the association between contact injuries, noncontact injuries, and training load indices in elite soccer players. The findings suggest that an increase in week-to-week acute load changes and EWMA ACWR is associated with an increased risk of noncontact injuries. Additionally, high 2- and 3-week cumulative load is associated with an increased risk of contact injuries. Gradually increasing training load can help reduce the potential risk of noncontact injuries.
