The influence of depressive symptoms and fear of missing out on severity of problematic smartphone use and Internet gaming disorder among Chinese young adults: A three-wave mediation model

Guangzhe Yuan et al.

Summary: The study found a significant relationship between depression severity and increased symptoms of PSU and IGD. The fear of missing out (FoMO) was shown to mediate the link between depression and PSU severity, with IGD symptoms partially mediating the relationship between FoMO and PSU severity. This longitudinal study highlights the important role of FoMO in the connection between psychopathology symptoms and Internet-related overuse.

Alyson K. Zalta et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis explored the complex relationship between social support and PTSD severity, finding that samples exposed to natural disasters had weaker effect sizes, studies measuring negative social reactions had larger effect sizes, and veteran samples showed larger effect sizes compared to civilian samples. There were also several other methodological and substantive moderators that emerged, indicating a nuanced understanding of the relationship between social support and PTSD severity.
