Anomeric Effect in Five-Membered Ring Molecules: Comparison of Theoretical Computations and Experimental Spectroscopic Results

Esther J. Ocola et al.

Summary: This study used high-level and somewhat lower-level ab initio computations to analyze the ring-puckering potential energy function in order to understand the anomeric effect between molecules. The torsional potential energies for different linkages ranged from 5.97 to 1.91 kcal/mol, providing insight into the relative magnitudes of the anomeric effect.
