The cross-relaxation processes in Pr3+ doped selenide glass efficiently populated the lowest excited state of Pr3+ ions, leading to the observation of stimulated emission at 5.5-5.9 mu m corresponding to the transition of Pr3+ ions. This study demonstrates the potential for achieving efficient stimulated emission in vitreous matrices.
Cross-relaxation processes in Pr3+ doped selenide glass provided efficient population of the lowest excited state H-3(5) of Pr3+ ions under pulsed pumping by 1.54 mu m Er:glass laser. Stimulated emission at 5.5-5.9 mu m corresponding to H-3(5)-> H-3(4) transition of Pr3+ ions was observed in vitreous matrix for the first time.
