Understanding the coupling between the moisture loss and surface temperature in an evaporating leaf-type surface

Navneet Kumar et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigates the evaporation characteristics from leaf-like surfaces with low open area ratio. Even with a low open area, the leaf is able to maintain a high transpiration rate. By mimicking the tiny openings on leaves using holes punched on silicon wafers, the researchers found that the smaller the opening size, the higher the evaporation. The evaporation ratio also increases with decreasing pore sizes, and the variation in surface temperature affects the surface water vapor concentration.
