Insight into Chemical Reduction and Charge Storage Mechanism of 2,2′-Dipyridyl Disulfide toward Stable Lithium-Organic Battery

Qianqian Fan et al.

Summary: Organic cathode materials in lithium-organic batteries can lead to cycling instability, but PyDS shows better cycling performance compared to PDS. The ionization of PyDS molecules by lithium ions allows for temporary storage of Li-0, maintaining the inertness of the S-S bond. This finding has been successfully applied in a membrane-free redox flow battery.
