Constraining Modified Gravity from Tidal Phenomena in Binary Stars

Summary: This study examines the partially effective Vainshtein screening mechanism in stellar objects within beyond-Horndeski theories of gravity, and uses tidal effects to constrain these modified gravity theories. By modeling stars in beyond-Horndeski theories, the critical masses of donor stars are numerically determined and compared with observed data, resulting in a parameter constraint range of 0 <= ϒ <= 0.50.
