The Absence of Oxygen in Sulfation Promotes the Performance of the Sulfated CeO2 Catalyst for Low-Temperature Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx by NH3: Redox Property versus Acidity

Qin Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that anaerobic sulfation can significantly enhance the SCR rate of CeO2 catalyst without affecting selectivity and stability. Spectroscopic analysis shows that anaerobic SO2 treatment increases the number and strength of Lewis acid sites on the catalyst, providing direct evidence that acidity, rather than redox properties, determines the performance of Ce-based SCR catalysts.

Composite Cu-SSZ-13 and CeO2-SnO2 for enhanced NH3-SCR resistance towards hydrocarbon deactivation

Ferenc Martinovic et al.

Summary: A composite catalyst formed by mixing Cu-SSZ-13 with CeO2-SnO2 through solid-state synthesis showed resistance to hydrocarbon poisoning in NH3-mediated NOx-SCR reaction. The addition of CeO2-SnO2 enhanced the resistance towards propylene poisoning, with the primary active sites playing a complex role in preventing hydrocarbon poisoning. The mechanism proposed for deactivation and poisoning prevention involved HONO/nitrate intermediates formed over CeO2-SnO2 re-activating the zeolitic copper for SCR reaction, highlighting the importance of the interaction between different active sites.

Roles of noble metals (M = Ag, Au, Pd, Pt and Rh) on CeO2 in enhancing activity toward soot oxidation: Active oxygen species and DFT calculations

Jae Hwan Lee et al.

Summary: The study showed that the dispersion of noble metals on CeO2 and the interaction between each noble metal and CeO2 significantly influenced the catalytic activity towards soot oxidation. Rh/CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 exhibited the best activity, and the DFT calculations confirmed the similar order of experimental activity.
