Ion-crosslinked carboxymethyl cellulose/polyaniline bio-conducting interpenetrated polymer network: preparation, characterization and application for an efficient removal of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution

Ali Olad et al.

Summary: A simple, cheap, and environmentally friendly bio-conducting interpenetrated polymer blend network was prepared as an efficient system for the industrial removal of toxic Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution. The CMC/PANI blend, ion-cross-linked by Al(3+)cations, showed good stability and high surface area, suitable for the removal of toxic Cr(VI) ions. Removal experiments were conducted, revealing that the removal of Cr(VI) ions strongly depends on solution pH, with the maximum monolayer adsorption capacity at pH 2 being 136.98 mg/g at 25 degrees C.

Thermal behavior and water absorption kinetics of polylactic acid/chitosan biocomposites

Nor Helya Iman Kamaludin et al.

Summary: In this study, biodegradable PLA/chitosan composites were produced and their effects on thermal, water absorption kinetics, tensile properties, and morphology were investigated. The results showed that increasing chitosan content enhanced the crystallinity of the material but decreased thermal stability, while also increasing water absorption. Tensile properties were improved with low chitosan loading in dry samples, but degraded in water-immersed samples due to polymer degradation.

Md. Arif Roman Azady et al.

Summary: This study synthesized a hydrogel with excellent swelling properties through copolymerization, and investigated its dye adsorption characteristics, finding a high maximum sorption capacity for methylene blue. The adsorption process was controlled by film diffusion (external diffusion) and was more favorable at lower temperatures.
