Approach of fermi level and electron-trap level in cadmium sulfide nanorods via molybdenum doping with enhanced carrier separation for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen production

Changfa Guo et al.

Summary: A facile one-pot solvothermal strategy was used to synthesize Mo-doped CdS nanorods in this study, which exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity with an H-2 production rate of 14.62 mmol.g(-1).h(-1) without the need for Pt as a co-catalyst, about 5.8 times higher than bare CdS. This work provides new insight into the facile synthesis of visible-light-driven photocatalysts and the effect of metal ion doping on the modulation of electronic structures.

Porous and visible-light-driven p-n heterojunction constructed by Bi2O3 nanosheets and WO3 microspheres with enhanced photocatalytic performance

Yue-Lin Wei et al.

Summary: Bi2O3/WO3 porous microspheres were constructed by embedding p-type Bi2O3 nanosheets in n-type WO3 microspheres, showing superior photocatalytic efficiency under visible light. The improved performance was attributed to the p-n junction between Bi2O3 and WO3, as well as the porous three-dimensional hierarchical structure. The mechanism was further elucidated through radical capturing experiments and theoretical analysis, contributing to the theoretical study and application in environmental remediation.
