Assessment of environmental and social sustainability performance of the freight transportation industry: An index-based approach

Aalok Kumar et al.

Summary: This study develops an EnSoS framework for evaluating the sustainability performance and identifying obstacles in the freight transport industry. The proposed framework utilizes an integrated multi-criteria decision-making method and includes two sustainability enablers, nine dimensions, and sixty-three sustainability attributes. The fuzzy best-worst method and fuzzy logic approach are used for evaluation. The framework is validated with a case study in the Indian freight industry, providing policy measures for improving sustainability obstacles.

Integrating autonomous delivery service into a passenger transportation system

Abood Mourad et al.

Summary: The increasing demand for goods in urban areas, along with technological advances, presents both opportunities and challenges for urban freight systems. One potential opportunity is utilizing underused resources in people-based systems for transporting goods. This paper proposes an integrated system where freight requests are delivered using a fleet of grounded and autonomous pickup and delivery robots, with the option of utilizing a public transportation service as part of the robot's journey.

Robust parameter design based on Gaussian process with model uncertainty

Zebiao Feng et al.

Summary: In this paper, a new weighted robust design approach is proposed to address the model uncertainty from outliers in contaminated experimental data. The robust Gaussian process model is used to estimate relationship models, and an optimization scheme is built to find feasible optimization solutions. The proposed approach outperforms other methods by considering the model uncertainty from outliers.
