Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms: A Complex Interplay between Drug, T Cells, and Herpesviridae

Luckshman Ganeshanandan et al.

Summary: DRESS syndrome is a severe delayed hypersensitivity reaction with potentially fatal consequences, and our understanding of its immunopathogenesis is still incomplete. Discussions on models of DRESS have explored the role of HLA and how Herpesviridae reactivation as well as heterologous immunity play a central role in these disorders, informed by observations from key studies using new molecular techniques.
