Deep Eutectic Solvents: A Review of Fundamentals and Applications

Benworth B. Hansen et al.

Summary: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) exhibit significant depressions in melting points and tunable physicochemical properties, but there is still a lack of predictive understanding of their microscopic mechanisms and structure-property relationships. Research on complex hydrogen bonding is crucial for a deeper understanding and development of fundamental frameworks for DESs.

New Anti-Leukemic Effect of Carvacrol and Thymol Combination through Synergistic Induction of Different Cell Death Pathways

Fatima Bouhtit et al.

Summary: The combination of carvacrol and thymol from Ptychotis verticillata (PV) essential oil induced AML cell death with low toxicity on normal cells, involving different molecular pathways such as apoptosis, oxidative stress, reticular stress, autophagy, and necrosis. Further research is needed to improve compound manufacturing and understand their anti-tumoral mechanisms for enhancing AML oncotherapy strategy efficiency.

Carvacrol affects breast cancer cells through TRPM7 mediated cell cycle regulation

Leilei Li et al.

Summary: Carvacrol, a TRPM7 inhibitor, was found to have anti-cancer potentials against breast cancer cells by regulating cell cycle and apoptosis. The study demonstrated that carvacrol inhibited breast cancer cell viability with different potency and induced apoptosis at higher concentrations by suppressing TRPM7 functions. The TRPM7 pathway was identified as one of the pharmacological mechanisms through which carvacrol exerts its effects on breast cancer cells.
