Flow dynamics in a vadose shaft - a case study from the Hochschwab karst massif (Northern Calcareous Alps, Austria)

Eva Kaminsky et al.

Summary: Karst aquifers are highly vulnerable to contamination due to rapid water flow through conduits. A study on a specific location showed dynamic discharge behavior, with fast point infiltration and slow flow components being observed. Simulations indicated low storage capacity in the karst system, although physicochemical parameters suggested some storage capability.
