Relativistic dissipative spin dynamics in the relaxation time approximation

Samapan Bhadury et al.

Summary: The concept of the Wigner function is utilized to build a semi-classical kinetic theory that describes the evolution of the axial current phase-space density of spin-1/2 particles under the relaxation time approximation. The approach can be applied to investigate spin polarization effects in relativistic matter, especially in heavy-ion collisions. Additionally, a new expression for the axial current based on classical treatment of spin is introduced, along with non-equilibrium corrections to the spin tensor, which define the structure of spin transport coefficients in relativistic matter for the first time.

Zilch vortical effect for fermions

Artem Alexandrov et al.

Summary: The paper discusses the concept of zilch current for photons as an alternative helicity measure, and extends it to fermion systems. It explores the properties of the fermionic zilch, showing that it exhibits non-trivial contributions known as zilch vortical effects in the presence of medium rotation. These results, combined with previous studies on photon zilch, reveal a wider set of chiral effects parameterized by particle spin and current spin.

Hydrodynamics of spin currents

Angel Domingo Gallegos et al.

Summary: In the presence of a non vanishing spin potential, relativistic hydrodynamics was studied, with an exhaustive analysis carried out to identify constitutive relations for stress tensor and spin current. The hydrodynamic equations of motion were written to second order in derivatives, and solved in a certain dynamical spin limit and perturbative setup, showing surprisingly good agreement with measurements of global Lambda-hyperon polarization at RHIC.

Spin polarization dynamics in the Bjorken-expanding resistive MHD background

Rajeev Singh et al.

Summary: The study investigates the evolution of spin polarization in the presence of external electric field at collision energies of root s(NN) = 27 GeV and root s(NN) = 200 GeV. Novel results are reported in a numerical analysis conducted in a perfect-fluid Bjorken expanding resistive magnetohydrodynamic background, highlighting the significant role of the electric field in the competition between expansion and dissipation.

Spin polarization dynamics in the Gubser-expanding background

Rajeev Singh et al.

Summary: The evolution of spin polarization in the Gubser-expanding conformal perfect-fluid hydrodynamic background is studied in this research. The analysis of conservation laws' conformal transformation properties is extended to angular momentum conservation, and explicit forms of equations of motion for spin components are derived and analyzed to find some special solutions.

Dissipative spin dynamics in relativistic matter

Samapan Bhadury et al.

Summary: This study extends the recent formulation of perfect-fluid hydrodynamics for spin-polarized fluids to include dissipation, using the classical description of spin degrees of freedom. The analysis is based on classical kinetic equations for massive particles with spin 1/2, treating collision terms in the relaxation time approximation. The kinetic-theory framework allows for the calculation of a complete set of new kinetic coefficients characterizing dissipative spin dynamics.
