Different community compositions between obligate and facultative oomycete plant parasites in a landscape-scale metabarcoding survey

Anna Maria Fiore-Donno et al.

Summary: This study investigated the diversity and distribution of soil oomycetes at the landscape scale in temperate grassland and forest, showing that a majority of hemibiotrophic plant pathogens are present in both types of ecosystems. Soil type and mineral soil C/N ratio were identified as the most influential factors in shaping oomycete communities. Edaphic conditions and management intensification in forest triggered different responses in the relative abundances of obligate biotrophs and hemibiotrophs.
