Description of Xiphinema persicum n. sp. (Nematoda: Longidoridae), a X. americanum-group species from Iran

Farahnaz Jahanshahi Afshar et al.

Summary: Two new populations of Xiphinema persicum n. sp., belonging to the X. americanum-group, were discovered in Semnan province and described based on morphological, morphometric, and molecular data. The new species is characterized by distinct features such as longer odontostyle, four juvenile developmental stages, and posteriorly located guiding ring, distinguishing it from closely related species. Phylogenetic relationships of the endosymbiont bacterium were also analyzed using partial sequences of 16S rDNA.
