Prognostic bioindicators in severe COVID-19 patients

L. Bergantini et al.

Summary: In this study, higher concentrations of IL-6, CRP and KL-6 were found in severe COVID-19 patients compared to mild-to-moderate patients, and these three biomarkers were directly correlated with each other. The combination of IL-6, KL-6, and CRP showed the best performance in distinguishing severe COVID-19 patients with poor prognosis from mild-to-moderate patients.

Update on morbidity and mortality in systemic sclerosis-related interstitial lung disease

Elizabeth R. Volkmann et al.

Summary: Recent studies on patients with systemic sclerosis-related interstitial lung disease have shown improvements in morbidity and mortality rates, with patients living longer from the time of diagnosis. Despite improved survival rates, respiratory failure from interstitial lung disease remains the leading cause of death for these patients.
