Do the vegetable exports lead to economic growth? An empirical evidence in selectedSAARCeconomies

Kondal Kappa

Summary: This study examines the relationship between vegetable exports and economic growth, and finds that vegetable exports do not lead to economic growth. It suggests that trade policies regarding vegetable exports should be reframed to improve exports growth and diversify capital/investment.

Climate change and variability in Kenya: a review of impacts on agriculture and food security

Benjamin Kipkemboi Kogo et al.

Summary: Climate change and variability pose a major threat to Kenya's agricultural sector, with negative impacts on crop production and food security in arid and semi-arid regions. Future projections suggest that cropping patterns and yields may be altered by climate variability, highlighting the importance of adaptive strategies for improved resilience.

Climate change and crop production nexus in Somalia: an empirical evidence from ARDL technique

Abdimalik Ali Warsame et al.

Summary: The study in Somalia from 1985 to 2016 found that rainfall improves crop production in the long-run but hampers in the short-run, while temperature has adverse effects on crop production in both the long and short runs. Carbon dioxide emissions do not have a significant impact on crop production. The study utilized ARDL bounds testing and Granger causality to model long-run and short-run cointegrations and causal relationships between the variables, revealing key relationships between climate variables and crop productivity.

Climate change impact assessment on Northeast China's grain production

Trinh Thi Viet Ha et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of climate change on grain production in Northeast China using climate datasets and an empirical model. Results showed that maximum temperature and atmospheric carbon concentration were key factors, with precipitation declining and irrigation area showing minimal contribution. Analysis suggested that maximum temperature may negatively affect future grain production. In conclusion, climate change has a significant influence on grain production and regional differences must be considered in adaptation planning.
