Relationship of environment with technological innovation, carbon pricing, renewable energy, and global food production

Muhammad Khalid Anser et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the global pace of economic growth towards sustainable development by analyzing the world aggregated data from 1980 to 2017. The results show that knowledge spillover, combustible renewables & waste, and carbon pricing substantially decreases carbon emissions, while trademark applications have a direct relationship with carbon emissions. Furthermore, the study finds an inverted U-shaped relationship between carbon emissions and global income.

Evaluating Ecological Footprints through Inbound Tourism, Population Density, and Global Trade

Muhammad Khalid Anser et al.

Summary: Man-made actions such as an increase in international tourism, population density pressure on arable land, and global trade are the main factors contributing to environmental damages and 'ecological footprints'. The study found that inbound tourism is the main detrimental factor causing ecological footprints, and there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between inbound tourism, population density, and economic growth with ecological footprints. Granger causality results showed no causal relationship between tourism and growth, but there is a bidirectional relationship between trade and inbound tourism. Sustainable tourism policies are crucial in limiting ecological footprints worldwide.
