Applications of compressed air energy storage in cogeneration systems

Summary: Cogeneration is a technology related to energy efficiency, and compressed air energy storage is a promising technology that can be integrated within cogeneration systems. Among the systems found, GT-S-CAES-ORC shows the best exergy efficiency while SC-CAES seems to be the most efficient in terms of the first law. Further research is needed to establish a new performance parameter for cogeneration systems with CAES, and more laboratory prototypes and pilot plants are expected in the medium term future.
