Measurement of Multiphase Flow by Tilted Optical Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor

Stenio Aristilde et al.

Summary: This article presents an optical fiber sensor based on TFBG for assessing the speed of two-phase flows, which can be interrogated in real-time according to an intensity-based, single-wavelength setup. The system is validated for samples comprised of water, oil, and air, yielding maximum relative error of 4.4% for speed measurements, whereas the sensor response can be tailored for different fluids by choosing the wavelength of the input light.

Liquid Flow Meter by Fiber-Optic Sensing of Heat Propagation

Alin Jderu et al.

Summary: This flow monitoring technique utilizes optical fiber sensing and pulsed heat injection to monitor fluid flow velocity by observing temperature distribution, with high accuracy and linear response. The method is non-intrusive, suitable for harsh conditions, and can be scaled to cover sensing ranges of several tens of kilometers.

Acoustical Slot Mode Sensor for the Rapid Coronaviruses Detection

Olga Guliy et al.

Summary: A method for rapid detection of coronaviruses was demonstrated using an acoustic sensor based on a slot wave in an acoustic delay line, detecting changes in resonant peaks on the frequency dependence of the insertion loss of the sensor caused by the addition of anti-TGEV antibodies. The difference in output parameters of the sensor before and after the interaction of the virus with specific antibodies allows conclusions to be drawn regarding the presence of the studied viruses in the analyzed solution.
