Hormone replacement therapy and cervical cancer: a systematic review of the literature

V. Vargiu et al.

Summary: This systematic review examines the risks of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and cervical cancer (CC), finding a significantly reduced risk of developing cervical squamous cell carcinoma in postmenopausal women treated with HRT, but a slight increase in the incidence of adenocarcinoma. HRT is not shown to have a harmful effect on CC oncological outcome and can offer various benefits to young CC survivors.
