An empirical analysis of financial markets and instruments influencing the low-carbon electricity production transition

Nan Xie et al.

Summary: This study reveals that public debt securities facilitate the transition from fossil fuel electricity to low-carbon electricity in BRICS countries, while private credit is not profitable for electricity production transition. Environmental pressure drives the importance of public capital in electricity transition, with financial markets in China and South Africa playing a more significant role in the transition to low-carbon electricity.
