Using ensemble modeling to predict the impacts of assisted migration on recipient ecosystems

Katie Peterson et al.

Summary: Assisted migration is a controversial conservation measure aimed at protecting threatened species by moving some of their populations outside their natural range. This study used an ensemble modeling framework to estimate the risks of assisted migration to existing species within ecosystems, finding that successful establishment of translocated species in stable, high-quality habitats has a probability of 83%, but can result in an average of 0.6 extinctions.
