Is informality a barrier to sustainable development?

Summary: The study found that the size of the informal sector is negatively associated with indicators related to economy, environment, education, and health, and positively related to female labor force participation, poverty rates, mortality rates, and air pollution. These associations are more significant in economies with lower GDP per capita.
