Potential active sites of Mo single atoms for electrocatalytic reduction of N-2

Lei Chen et al.

Summary: Single atom catalysts with well-dispersed metal atoms have distinctive performances for electrocatalysis. The synthesis of Mo single atomic sites and ultrasmall Mo2C/MoN clusters on nitrogen-doped carbon was achieved through pyrolysis of bimetallic metalorganic frameworks. XANES and DFT calculations confirmed the structure and N-2 adsorption capability of Mo-N3C single atoms for electrochemical N-2 reduction.

A Theoretical Evaluation of Possible N2 Reduction Mechanism on Mo2B2

Jia Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic effect of 2D Mo2B2 on the electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) through first principles calculation. It is found that different adsorption structures formed by 2D Mo2B2 have different electronic properties, affecting the effectiveness of NRR. The research provides important insights for exploring superior NRR catalysis in experiments and expanding the application of transition metal borides in catalysis.

Construction of Cr-embedded graphyne electrocatalyst for highly selective reduction of CO2 to CH4: A DFT study

Ling Fu et al.

Summary: This study explores the electrocatalytic potential of different transition metals in the CO2 reduction reaction, and finds that embedding Cr into graphyne is the most efficient option for producing CH4. Additionally, it is discovered that CO2 is more advantageous for the hydrogen evolution reaction to preferentially occupy the activation site than H2 on Cr-graphyne. These results provide a new path for the development of low-potential electrocatalysts with high activity and selectivity for CO2 reduction.
