The rate constant of the reaction F + CH4 → HF + CH3 was studied in the temperature range 220-960K using a discharge flow reactor combined with mass spectrometry. The kinetic data obtained were compared with previous measurements and theoretical calculations.
Reaction F + CH4 ? HF + CH3 (1) has been studied using a discharge flow reactor combined with mass spectrometry in the temperature range 220?960 K. The rate constant of the reaction was determined using both absolute and relative rate measurements: k1 = (1.28 ? 0.04) ? 10-10 exp(-(219 ? 9)/T) cm3molecule- 1s- 1 (the uncertainties represent precision at the 2? level, the estimated total uncertainty on k1 being 15% at all temperatures). The kinetic data from the present work are discussed in comparison with previous measurements and theoretical calculations.
