Nanotechnology improves the therapeutic efficacy of gemcitabine against a human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line and minimizes its in vivo side effects

Sawsan M. A. El-Sheikh et al.

Summary: Nanotechnology, specifically the use of gemcitabine-loaded silver nanoparticles, shows promise in improving the efficacy of anti-cancer drugs and reducing side effects. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that gemcitabine-loaded silver nanoparticles had a better cytotoxic effect on cancer cells compared to gemcitabine alone or silver nanoparticles alone. Furthermore, the use of gemcitabine-loaded silver nanoparticles showed potential therapeutic efficacy in treating hepatocellular carcinoma.
