Pathological Regression of Lymph Nodes Better Predicts Long-term Survival in Esophageal Cancer Patients Undergoing Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Followed by Surgery

Takaomi Hagi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the pathological response of lymph nodes to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and assess its clinical prognostic significance in patients with esophageal cancer (EC). The results showed that the pathological regression grade of lymph nodes was significantly correlated with other clinicopathological parameters and was a better predictor of long-term survival than the regression grade of the primary tumor.

Lymph Node Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy as an Independent Prognostic Factor in Metastatic Esophageal Cancer

Shinya Urakawa et al.

Summary: In patients with metastatic esophageal cancer, the response of lymph nodes to neoadjuvant chemotherapy was found to be a more precise predictor of long-term survival compared to the response of the primary tumor. Lymph node responders had less advanced lymph node and distant metastases, better histological responses, and were closer related to lymphatic dissemination.
