Pharmacological Prevention of Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal in a Pregnant Guinea Pig Model

Alireza Safa et al.

Summary: Research has shown that prenatal exposure to methadone (MTD) exacerbates withdrawal symptoms in newborn guinea pigs, while co-administration of 6 beta-naltrexol (6BN) with MTD can prevent these symptoms and exhibit high potency in both newborn and adult guinea pigs.

Testosterone interrupts binding of Neurexin and Neuroligin that are expressed in a highly socialized rodent, Octodon degus

Nan Yagishita-Kyo et al.

Summary: Octodon degus is considered one of the most human-like rodents with enhanced cognitive function. Cloning and characterizing sociality-related genes in degus, the study found high similarity between degus Neuroligin4 and human Neuroligin4X, unlike in mice. Furthermore, testosterone was shown to bind to degus Neurexin and disrupt intercellular binding, potentially influencing the incidence of autism in males.

Proteomic Architecture of Valvular Extracellular Matrix FNDC1 and MXRA5 Are New Biomarkers of Aortic Stenosis

Rihab Bouchareb et al.

Summary: This study found that aortic valve calcification is associated with disruption in extracellular matrix and metabolic pathways, highlighting a strong connection between metabolic markers and ECM remodeling. Additionally, FNDC1 and MXRA5 were identified as novel ECM biomarkers in calcified valves, potentially serving as targets in the development and progression of aortic stenosis.
