Comparison of High CPAP versus NIPPV in Preterm Neonates: A Retrospective Cohort Study

Hussain Alsaid Ahmad et al.

Summary: In this study, outcomes following high CPAP and NIPPV in extremely preterm neonates were compared. Results showed no difference in primary outcome of failure between the two methods, but infants receiving high CPAP were more likely to require an alternate mode of noninvasive support.

Non-invasive high-frequency oscillatory ventilation in preterm infants after extubation: a randomized, controlled trial

Yan Li et al.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness and safety of non-invasive high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (NHFOV), nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV), and nasal continuous positive airway pressure (NCPAP) in post-extubation preterm infants. The results showed that NHFOV had a lower reintubation rate, shorter non-invasive ventilation duration and hospital stay, and reduced incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia compared to NIPPV and NCPAP. NHFOV also resulted in less nasal injury than NCPAP.

Tidal Breathing Measurements in Former Preterm Infants: A Retrospective Longitudinal Study

Anna Lavizzari et al.

Summary: Findings from this study indicate that premature infants, with or without bronchopulmonary dysplasia, exhibit persistent airway obstruction in the first 2 years of life. Factors such as longer duration of oxygen supplementation, intubation, and respiratory support are associated with reduced tPTEF/tE, and tPTEF/tE may help identify infants at higher risk of severe respiratory morbidity.
