Introducing polymer conductance in diagnostically relevant transduction

Ausra Baradoke et al.

Summary: In this study, an impedance derived capacitance method was used to resolve the resonant conductance characteristics of an electrode-confined polymer film, which was modulated by decorating the film with receptors to capture specific targets such as C-reactive protein. This reagentless and single step marker quantification is important for scaling assays with minimal user intervention.

Affimer-based impedimetric biosensors for fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3): a novel tool for detection and surveillance of recurrent bladder cancer

Pattanapong Thangsunan et al.

Summary: FGFR3 is a key receptor protein with potential biomarker role in bladder cancer. Affimer reagents targeting FGFR3 showed strong binding affinity and were used for fabrication of impedimetric electrochemical biosensors. These biosensors were capable of detecting FGFR3 protein at sub-pM to nM concentrations in different solutions.

Impedimetric aptamer-based glycan PSA score for discrimination of prostate cancer from other prostate diseases

Ana Diaz-Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study presents an improved impedimetric aptamer-based sensor for dual recognition of PSA with two different aptamers, showing a dynamic range in serum between 0.26 and 62.5 ng/mL with good reproducibility. The platform could be used as a minimally invasive method for the diagnosis of prostate cancer, as it demonstrates excellent correlation between glycan score and the known diagnosis of patients with different pathologies.

Electrochemical impedimetric biosensors, featuring the use of Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTILs): Special focus on non-faradaic sensing

Sayali Upasham et al.

Summary: Significant advancements have been made in the field of biosensing technology over the last decade, with electrochemical sensors, particularly impedimetric sensors, gaining attention for their ability to perform label-free sensing. The use of Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTILs) has been shown to improve sensitivity and stability in detection systems, making long-term continuous sensing feasible for a wide range of applications. However, challenges still exist in this area that need to be addressed for further progress.
