Assessing Efficiency of Public Poverty Policies in UE-28 with Linguistic Variables and Fuzzy Correlation Measures

Jorge de Andres-Sanchez et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the efficiency of social expenditure by EU-28 countries from 2014 to 2018 to reduce poverty. The Debreu-Farrell productivity measure was calculated and the relationship between efficiency and the proportion of social expenditure items was quantified. The ranking of poverty policies based on efficiency was determined by interpreting Pearson's correlation as a linguistic variable and using Pearson's correlation index between fuzzy numbers proposed by D.H. Hong in 2006.
