Perfluorobutane contrast-enhanced ultrasonography: a new standard for ultrasonography-guided thermal ablation of sonographically occult liver tumours?

Haiyuan Shi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the effectiveness of pCEUS in thermal ablation of liver tumors, improving tumor visibility and achieving a high rate of complete ablation, while also revealing a certain proportion of local tumor progression.

Factors Associated With Local Tumor Control and Complications After Thermal Ablation of Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastases: A 15-year Retrospective Cohort Study

Ieva Kurilova et al.

Summary: Thermal ablation with a minimum margin > 10 mm is effective for local tumor control in colorectal cancer liver metastases. However, it may lead to biliary complications. For patients at risk, a margin of 6 to 10 mm provides good control rate and reduces the incidence of biliary complications. The study found that biliary complications are more likely to occur in patients who received hepatic artery infusion, had biliary dilatation, and had a margin > 10 mm.

The diagnostic performance of a simulated short gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI protocol is similar to that of a conventional protocol for the detection of colorectal liver metastases

Camille Ghorra et al.

Summary: The study compared the performance of standard and simulated short gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI protocols for the detection of colorectal liver metastases and found that the two protocols showed similar results. The simulated short protocol shortened the duration of MRI examination, facilitating the evaluation of patients with colorectal liver metastases.

Summary: The study aimed to estimate LTPFS and develop an algorithmic strategy following RFA treatment for CLM. Results showed relatively high LTPFS and OS rates, with independent risk factors for LTPFS including tumor size, location, and ablative margin size. The prediction model performed well and provided long-term control of colorectal liver metastases.
